Submultiples and multiples units

These are prefixes that are put in the units of measurement of the greater than and less than 10

Multiples:

Multiples are the units of measurement larger than the meter, and they are the decameter, the hectometer, and the kilometer. These are some prefix:
  • deca
  • hecta
  • kilo
  • mega
  • giga
  • tera,
  • peta
  • exa

Submultiple:

Submultiples are the units of measurement smaller than the meter, and are the decimeter, centimeter, and millimeter. Some of the submultiples prefix are:

  • deci
  • centi
  • mili
  • micro
  • nano
  • pico
  • fento
  • atto

Conversion of units

It is very easy to convert the units, you only need to know what the basic unit is, for example in the units of measurement the base unit is the meter, from the meter down it is multiplied x10 like this in a ladder, but if it is for the top it is divided by x10 and it is accumulated like this in a staircase as in the image.

You do the same with any type of unit.

What is an unit?

A unit is a ameasure used to compare things, it could be measurement standard (like meters or kilograms), a basic part of a system (like a phone), or a defined group (like military)

Why it is so important?

The importance of units is to complexe on idea of measurement.

There are several types of units used in measurement:

  • Length: Measures distance (e.g., meters, kilometers).
  •  Mass: Quantifies the amount of matter (e.g., grams, kilograms).
  • Time: Tracks duration (e.g., seconds, hours).
  •  Temperature: Indicates heat levels (e.g., Celsius, Fahrenheit),
  •  Volume: Measures space occupied (e.g., liters, milliliters).
  •  Area: Quantifies surface size (e.g., square meters).
  •  SI Units: The International System of Units, which includes base units for various physical quantities.

There are some examples:

1. Units of meuserment.

  • Meter(m)
  • Liter (1)
  • kilogram (kg
  • Newton(N)
  • second(s)

2.Computing units

  • Bit (b)
  • Gigabity (GB)
  • Byte(B)
  • Terabity (TB)
  • kilobity (KB)

3. Energy and electricity use
  •  Joule (J)
  •  volt (v)
  •  watt (W)
  • Ampere (A)

4. Astronomy units

  • Light year
  • Astronomical unit (AU)
  • Parsec

5.Economy and Finance units

  • Dollar ($)
  • interest rate (%)
  • euro (E)
  • Peso (S)

People who developed the physics:

The physics not only appear in our lives, some people create ideas and theories to support the physics, these people are the ones that help in the physics.

1. Isaac Newton (1643-1727)

He developed the laws of motion and the law of universal gravitation, forming the foundation of classical mechanics.

2. Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

He formulated the theory of relativity (special and general), revolutionizing our understanding of space, time, and gravity.

3. James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879)

He unified electricity, magnetism, and light through Maxwell's equations, laying the groundwork for modern electromagnetism.

These people help us to understand better the physics that past centuries, other people do the same but these are the most relevants and famous, thanks to these people we live the life easier.

Types of physic:

Physics is divided into many types, the different types are dedicated to studying something specific.

These are the most relevant types:

1. Classical physics

– It studies motion, mechanics, thermodynamics and electromagnetism, being the basis of many everyday applications.

2. Quantum physics

– Explains the behavior of subatomic particles, essential for modern technology such as computers and lasers.

3. Relativistic physics

– Describes phenomena at high speeds and intense gravitational fields, key to astronomy and GPS.

Some examples of the types:

  • Mechanics (motion and forces)
  • Thermodynamics (heat and energy)
  • Electromagnetism (electricity and magnetism)
  • Optics (light and its properties)
  • Quantum physics (behavior of subatomic particles)
  • Relativity (high speeds and gravity)

also exist some types: Modern Physics,  Mechanical Physics, Thermodynamics, Electromagnetic Physics, Optics, Nuclear Physics, Applied Physics.

What is phsyic?

Physics is the science that helps us understand how the universe works. It studies matter, energy, and space, and its principles are reflected in everything we experience daily. Thanks to its discoveries, we can create technologies that improve our lives and inspire us to keep exploring the unknown.

We can find physics at any time and place, these are some examples in the daily routine:

1. Driving a vehicle
– Movement, friction and inertia when driving.

2. Cooking food
– Heat transfer in the food.

3. Using a mobile phone
– Electromagnetic waves and electricity.

4. Play sports
– Force, gravity, and trajectory of objects.

5. Seeing a rainbow
– Refraction and scattering of light in water.
